The Influences of Various Matrices and Silanization on the Bond Strength between Resin Cores and Glass Fiber Posts

Kutlu IU and Yanikoglu ND

Purpose: The comparison of the influences of various matrices and silanization on the bond strength between resin cores and glass fiber posts.
Methods: In this study, 40 Rebilda Posts with methacrylate matrices and 40 Er Dentin Posts with epoxy resin matrices were utilized. Monobond N was used for silanization in half of the posts. Three core materials, developed particularly for core build-up (Grandio Core, Rebilda Core, Build-It FR) and one hybrid composite (Filtek Z250) were administered to parallel parts of the posts. To perform the push-out test, three disks of 2 mm thickness were cut off from each post-core specimen. Surface morphology of the posts and cores was delineated following the push-out test by the scanning electron microscope (SEM). Univariate analysis of variance was performed for data analysis.
Results: The bond strength of Rebilda Posts was increased when compared to the bond strength of Er Dentin Post (p
